The only one of its kind in the world, the Adopt a Giant Tortoise program connects one person or community with one real, individual tortoise for life. Giant Tortoises live up to 150 years and a very few can live to 200 years! So your children, grandchildren, and perhaps even great-grandchildren will have a lifelong connection to Galápagos, and more importantly, a deep connection to wildlife conservation. The adopter will have the chance to name their tortoise and will receive twice-yearly updates about the tortoise's progress. The adoption donation amount is the true cost to care for the tortoise for the remainder of their time in the breeding center and also the cost of their transport and release into the wild.
Complete your adoption by Dec. 11 to receive your Welcome Packet and Adoption Certificate in the mail by Dec. 25!
For payment plans or other adoption questions, please contact ambassador@galapagos.org
I'm an self-sufficient tortoise, that's what I am! A true survivor and once we get to be released I've got plans of my own. Adopt me and you'll find out!
Wanna take a selfie? I look good in any angle! Surely you will want to adopt me to show off to all your friends!
I'm a very shy tortoise who tends to explore my surroundings alone. Right now, I'm very little — but I've still got big plans!
Try to find me and I'm hiding. I'm a shy and bashful little tortoise (a proud introvert!). Thanks for giving me my space.
Skittish? I'd say I'm maybe more... fidgety! I like to move around a lot and if you're trying to take a picture of me I'll keep moving right along.
My favorite part of the day is eating, but I feel very strongly about making a meal a social encounter. Let's do lunch!
I'm very interested in this fascinating world that surrounds me — and really can't be bothered with interruptions. Ta-ta!
I'm a bit of a solo-hiker for now. But maybe someday soon I'll start an explorers' club with other tortoises.
My specialty: fine dining! Take as many pictures as you like, I don't mind, as long as you bring another serving of Porotillo leaves!
